ERCA Conversion Course (Traditional Ropes Course Instructor)

Full board, consisting of dormitory accommodation and 3 meals per day can be provided by Green Park for an additional fee.

The ERCA conversion course is designed for existing instructors with a significant amount of experience running activity sessions on traditional ropes courses, who also hold a valid ropes course rescue qualification. The course aims to qualify instructors to work on traditional ropes courses.  (Traditional Ropes Courses are those where the participant is belayed by other people, and the session is usually geared towards developmental or educational aims and objectives)

 ERCA Instructor qualifications are recognised at many ropes courses throughout the UK and Europe, as well as other countries across the world.

 This course follows the ERCA syllabus for the Conversion Course and is fully compliant with EN15567:2015


The training and assessment consists of practical and theory sessions delivered over two days.

2 days including training and assessment, lunch & dinner on the first day, accommodation for the night, breakfast & lunch on the second day.

If you are arriving the night before, dinner, accommodation, and breakfast in the morning can be provided (booked in advance) for an additional £30+VAT


  • Minimum Age of 18 years old
  • Hold a valid first aid certificate (Minimum 6 hours to include CPR)
  • Physically fit enough to take part in a ropes course activity
  • Capable of working at height; familiar with carrying out regular operational inspections of a ropes course structure
  • Significant prior experience instructing sessions on traditional high ropes courses
  • Existing instructor award in similar activity

Candidates will be required to submit details (by email) of how they meet the above criteria well in advance of the course.  Any candidates who are deemed to not sufficiently satisfy these criteria will be notified in advance of the course and issued a full refund.  Refunds will not be issued to any candidates who attend the course and regrettably do not meet the standard required during the course assessment, information on how to appeal an assessment decision will be provided in line with the standards laid down by the European Ropes Course Association.
